Comments Off on Disney Infinity 3.0 for Wii-U

Disney Infinity is an action-adventure sandbox video game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios. It’s one of a million different Amiibo or Skylanders clones that’s come out and taken over shelves at your local game section, and I’ll admit I’m a little skeptical of the entire genre of obnoxious, scalper-ridden figurine games. I’ve never been fond of games that require me to keep pouring out money to access features I theoretically already bought when I got the disk in the first place, and I definitely didn’t think I needed another set of cheap plastic things to lose. “My pop vinyl collection has me covered, thank you very much.” I would say to myself as I routinely passed by the ever expanding shelf of competing plastic crap. Well, one bad week, a sale, and a tax return later, and there I was traipsing into the house with […]

Comments Off on Valve gives the finger to cheaters

Valve Issues Life Bans to Players Involved in Fixing Game’s Matches in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Nearly a year after a notorious scandal, Valve has clarified their stance on the punishment for match-fixing in pro Counter-Strike from indefinite to Permanent. Teams like iBuyPower,NetCodeGuides.com and Team Torqued—whose members were found to have participated in a major match-fixing conspiracy in early 2015, rendering their name retroactively hilarious—languishing in “indefinite” time-out, Valve finally handed down a definitive verdict. In short, if anyone has been found guilty of match-fixing or is found guilty in the future, they’re out. Forever. Valve wrote: “Back in January and early February 2015 we took action after we discovered that a small number of professional CS:GO players were engaged in match-fixing. Our decision was to ban these players indefinitely from involvement in Valve-sponsored events. To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned.” “As the […]

Comments Off on “Can we have a do-over?!” Says Microsoft.

Today is the day where Microsoft asks the world for a do-over. Let’s get this straight, this is not a patch! This a complete system revamp! Sluggish sales, sloppy interface, and a dwindling list of exclusive titles has led up to the newest update for Xbox One. A very large patch, coming in a 1.2 GB! Xbox interviews all point to one thing, which is that this is the operating system they wanted to do from the start, but failed to do so. Many of us remember the rantings from Microsoft at E3 years ago. When gamers were promised these things from the start, and instead we received a Beta system. Well today is your day Microsoft fans. Included in the 1.2 GB complete system revamp is the new interface that is said to be much “snappier and responsive” for gamers. You also will have your first few titles of the […]

Comments Off on Sci Fi Review: Heroes Reborn Episode 3: Under The Mask

After the two hour premiere opening of Heroes Reborn, it continues to keep the ball rounding with their third episode, “Under the Mask”. So, how did it go…you tell me: Noah is still trying to piece everything together which leads him to the hospital where he’s not greeted very warmly. It is, then, made realized that he had a hostile confrontation in the hospital where Claire was committed. After taking a look at the security footage, Noah came to the realization that Hiro Nakamura was with him and may have some answers to his questions. He later meets up with Molly Walker who isn’t too happy to see him which resulted in her being sent off to Renautas where it’s discovered what she was being used for: the focal point of E.P.I.C. so they can track and hunt down Evos all over the world – anywhere and anytime. This is good news. […]

Comments Off on Sci Fi Review: Heroes Reborn Episode 1&2: Brave New World & Odessa

After five years of abandoning the faithful viewers with a promising cliffhanger, the critically acclaimed science fiction series, Heroes, makes it glorious comeback in a much needed spinoff, Heroes Reborn. Heroes Reborn is described as a 13-episode “event miniseries’ that picks up a year after the events of a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas during the Odessa Peace Summit, a peaceful gathering between humans and evolved humans, now called Evos. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, this tragic event became the catalyst for the numerous events that shapes the stories of this new cast. It’s safe to say, the writers are getting back to their roots with this series. So, let’s dive right in: The two-part episode starts off with the death of a former Hero, Claire Bennet dubbed “The Cheerleader”, which was baffling to me since her power made it nearly impossible for her to die. As you can imagine, this put a […]

Comments Off on The future is bright for NGA 2015

The year of 2014 has been a very long and enduring one. We had multiple issues with transportation and luck got us through a few tight spots (along with the help of a few associates!). In 2014 we started messing with a new layout (for those that could accommodate), and at Holiday Matsuri the idea came full swing. We had so many compliments from fans and convention runners alike. One of our personal favorites that we heard a few times was “best game room ever!” As we are always happy to one up ourselves, we do not believe that the potential of Nexus Gaming Alliance has been reached. We have a full array of ideas stemming back 5 years and in 2015 we plan to start moving forward. 2015’s main focus will be different depending on division. Gaming for conventions will be shifting to a more consistent JPN market for Anime […]

Comments Off on Nintendo and Phillips settle out of court

Nintendo and Philips have resolved their patent infringement dispute regarding the Wii and Wii U, Philips announced today. Philips did not disclose financial terms of the settlement, but said that both companies have agreed to license parts of their patent portfolios to each other. “We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with Nintendo. It demonstrates that both companies recognize the importance of intellectual property rights,” said Brian Hinman, chief intellectual property officer of Philips. “It also shows the value of our extensive IP portfolio and our commitment to protect our significant investments in research & development.” The agreement ends months of international litigation dating back to May, when Philips filed lawsuits in France, Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. against Nintendo. Philips’ complaints alleged that Nintendo violated at least two patents owned by Philips: one for “products with interactive virtual modeling features” and the other for “products with human-computer interaction features.” According […]
